N500 Net Bridge Connections
The Net Bridge connections are:
- ETHERNET / POE — Ethernet LAN connection with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support.
-
DC — Power supply connection for an external power source.
The Net Bridge always requires an Ethernet connection and a power supply. The power source can be an external power source or an Ethernet switch with PoE support. The maximum number of devices that can be connected to the bus depends on many factors. These include:
- The power supply, that is, the available power.
- The power consumption of the bus devices.
- Cabling distances, that is, the eventual cable power loss.
If the Net Bridge is powered by:
- A PoE, 8 W of power is available for the bus devices.
- A PoE+, 20 W of power is available for the bus devices.
- An external power supply, 30 W of power is available for the bus devices.
-
RS-485 1/2/3 on two rows — Main bus connections (6 in total). This is the main bus that can be divided to six parallel branches1.
To the main bus, you can connect:
-
Door Modules
-
Update points
-
I/O cards
-
There are also configurations that have three physical connectors, each of which can have two branches, totalling six.
