Key Offline Expiration Time
Keys can have an offline expiration time. When the offline expiration time has elapsed, the key is invalidated. This feature ensures that no key with outdated credentials will remain on the field. This is a security feature. For example, when the administrator uses the empty and return key function, to prevent the key from accessing locks, offline expiration time ensures that the user cannot keep the Phone app offline and continue accessing locks any longer than what the offline expiration time allows.
The expiration time starts to elapse, as follows:
-
When the phone containing the Phone Key loses the network connection.
-
As Key Fobs are offline devices, the expiration time starts to elapse after each programming. The user can reset this timer by establishing a network connection through the FobApp application or through the Programmer.
You can define a default offline expiration time for Key Fobs and Phone Keys separately. The system default expiration time for keys, if in use, will be suggested when creating a new key. However, you can override the default expiration settings by defining a key-specific expiration time.
