Zones
This section provides an introduction to zones.
In the iLOQ 5 Series locking system, zones have two functionalities:
- iLOQ 5 Series Manager users can be restricted from viewing and editing items in different zones.
- When zones are enabled, blocklists are zone-specific.
A user can be defined as a zone-specific administrator. In this case, the user can manage the items within user zones only.
Zones can be used to restrict the use of:
- Locks
- Access rights
- Persons
- Keys
- Calendars
- Code groups
- Floor plans
- Network modules
- Estates
Zone-specific blocklist:
In the iLOQ 5 Series locking system, blocklists are zone-specific. We recommend dividing larger systems with multiple sites into zones. When a locking system is divided into different zones, the capacity of each zone-specific blocklist is 500 keys per lock. The zone-specific blocklist can be used, for example, to create estate-specific blocklists: each estate in the locking system is given its own zone, whereby the lock-specific blocklist for each estate is 500 blocked keys.
Suggested zone divisions:
- Province zones
- City zones
- City district zones
- Estate tree specific zones
- Estate specific zones
When creating zones, the capacity of the zone-specific blocklist should be taken into account. For example, when creating zones at a province level, assess whether the blocking capacity of 500 keys is sufficient to meet the needs of the zone for eventual lost keys. The keys only carry the blocklist of their own main zone to locks on the same zone.
If you enable zones retroactively and want to divide your already programmed keys and locks among different zones, the keys and locks must be reprogrammed for the new zone selections to take effect.
