Using Automatically Renewed Keys
This section describes how to use automatically renewed keys in iLOQ Manager.
An automatically renewed key is a key that has an end date and time. The Key scheduler can automatically renew the end date and time.
Proceed as follows.
- Start adding a key as instructed in section Adding a New Key.
- When you reach the step where you define time limitations, define the first ending time for the key with the Key is valid to setting.
-
Select the required renewal period by using the radio buttons in the
Automatic renewal of end date field.
The options are:
- Not in use — If you select this radio button, the key end date is not automatically renewed.
- Daily — If you select this radio button, the key end date can be automatically postponed on a daily basis. Use the Renewal period is repeated setting to define the key validity duration. For example, if you use value 3, the key end date is postponed for three days at a time.
- Weekly — If you select this radio button, the key end date can be automatically postponed on a weekly basis. Use the Renewal period is repeated setting to define the key validity duration. For example, if you use value 1, the key end date is postponed for one week at a time.
-
Select the Renewal period begins time.
With this setting, you define the time when, before the end time of the key elapses, the key can be updated to have the next validity period.
For example, if:
- The Key is valid to time is on Friday, 5 Jun 2015, at 18:00.
- The Renewal period begins time is on Thursday, 4 Jun 2015, at 8:00.
- You have defined that the Renewal period is repeated every 1 weeks.
If you update the key on Thursday at 8:00 or after, the end date is postponed to the Friday on the next week. However, if you update the key on Wednesday, the end date is postponed to the Friday on the same week.
- If you are creating a new key, program the key. If you are updating an existing key, order the key.
