About the project
For Vélo-transit, this project is to create a sustainable, integrated transportation ecosystem that encourages more people to use bicycles for their daily commute and travel needs. By addressing key barriers like bike theft and the need for secure storage, the project aims to address these key points:
- Proximity to work: With 36% of Canadian workers living within 5 km of their workplace, biking is a viable and sustainable option for many, but security concerns around bike theft can deter people.
- Bike theft epidemic: By offering secure public bike storage, Vélo-transit is tackling a major barrier to increased bike usage in cities, potentially encouraging more people to switch to biking.
- Environmental impact: By supporting bike users and integrating with public transit, Vélo-transit is contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which is crucial for combating climate change.
- Public Transit Integration: The network of bike storage facilities aligns with public transit systems, promoting a seamless transition between biking and other forms of public transportation

The solution
Vélo-Transit is a customer of Mosino One – a resident engagement and management platform vendor in North America. The all-in-one platform offers a unique blend of easy-to-use digital services, smart technology and intelligent automation. The integration between Mosino One and iLOQ has created a customized access management platform that enables a convenient way for bike users to book access to and receive a digital key for their individual Vélo-Transit storage module.
A smartphone app is the only key the bike users need to open the lock and access their personal locker. The Vélo-Transit white label app features payment, reservation and geolocation functions. Administrators have quick and easy access to Mosino One’s online management platform where they can configure the terms of use. And iLOQ’s locks themselves are battery-free making the solution even more sustainable and cost efficient.

We have been impressed with iLOQ and Mosino One’s support during the initial deployment of our unique solution.
