About the project
There is a high turnover of residents in student housing. Some 8,000 moves take place annually within SSH. Student life often involves long nights and early mornings and many students come from abroad and don’t speak the language. SSH required a secure as well as a flexible and easy-to-use access management solution.
The solution
SSH chose the iLOQ S50 mobile access solution which is not only battery-free but also keyless. Doors can be opened with a smartphone.
Thanks to iLOQ’s API, issuing keys and revoking access rights takes place remotely and in real time, maximizing security and minimizing costs and administration.

Battery-free and keyless operation
The doors are battery-free, wireless and can be operated with a smartphone, eliminating the need for a physical key or WiFi connection. This is ideal for students who always have the key (their smartphone) in their pocket.
Integration increases efficiency
iLOQ’s solution is integrated with SSH’s own online platform through an API link. This has provided many automation options, for example, when issuing keys. After receiving an email, students can quickly and easily install their iLOQ key on their smartphone.
Easier key management through automation
When a student is assigned a room, they get a lease with an effective date. When the contract comes into effect, the student receives an email with the link to upload their iLOQ key. When the lease expires, their access rights are automatically revoked. With 8,000 moves per year, this automation saves an awful lot of time.
High level of security
There are no risks related to lost, stolen or unreturned physical keys. Access rights are assigned and revoked according to the student’s accommodation lease.
