Encouraging our leaders to ‘step up’ to the challenge
Last year, we published news about our comprehensive Leadership Development Program; one key component of which was a ‘Leadership Workshop.’ This two-day event brought together more than 50 leaders from our offices worldwide to:
- launch the development of a common view on iLOQ’s ‘Leadership principles’: what they are and what they mean in practice;
- discuss leadership DOs and DON’Ts and iLOQ’s core values;
- define how to strengthen our customer-focused mindset and what that means for the role of our leaders.
At the end of the successful workshop, we decided what steps we would continue to take to ensure the ongoing development of our leaders for the good of the company, our customers and all members of the iLOQ Family.
To kick off 2025, we brought the same group of leaders together for an off-site event to reinforce the goals defined and to make sure all the right steps are in place to ensure a successful year ahead. I have highlighted the word ‘steps’ as it relates directly to the newly introduced ‘Step-Up’ model, which was developed based on discussions around our Leadership Principles during an earlier workshop. The Leadership Principles remain unchanged in terms of content, but have now been refined into the Step-Up model, designed to serve as a guiding light for leaders. The acronym represents:
Strive for excellent results by encouraging people to work in an efficient way
Treat people with respect
Empower people to take ownership and make decisions
Promote learning from mistakes
Uphold an open discussion culture and encourage out-of-the-box thinking
Passionately lead people focusing on real value add
These six principles are the cornerstones of our leadership philosophy and act as a guide to help our leaders step up in their roles and lead by example according to our values.
As part of our ongoing development program, there will be online training sessions later in the year related to ‘Leading change and implementing strategy’ and ‘Coaching leadership and performance management’. And our new global HR system – HiBob – promotes regular one-on-one reviews with direct reports and provides feedback to leaders to help support their own development.
Strong leadership is the key to the success of any organization, and we will continue to provide the tools and training for our leaders to create a positive work culture that encourages growth and development.
