Allego
Allego enhances EV charging station security with iLOQ’s mobile access management solution
About the customer
Founded in 2013, Allego is the leading European public electric vehicle charging network. The company has over 35,000 EV charging sockets installed throughout Benelux, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. Plans are in place to expand their market share considerably in the future.
About the project
Allego needed a locking solution to protect the charging and transformer stations. In 2021, a small internal pilot of iLOQ’s battery-free and keyless mobile access solution occurred in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Following the successful pilot, a business case was established, and Allego decided to extend the solution to other locations in the Netherlands.
The solution
Allego chose iLOQ’s battery- and cable-free mobile access and keyless solution, in which an NFC-enabled smartphone acts as a key and a power source. The locks are opened using the running smartphone induction, while access rights are sent to iLOQ’s app, which runs on it. They can be updated and canceled as needs change. Around 230 locks have been installed in Allego stations in the Netherlands.
How the everyday life of Allego became more secure
Enhanced security
Allego has complete insight and control over chargers and real-time insight into who has access. Removing the physical key, which can be shared and lost, the digital solution is much safer as access can be revoked and monitored permanently.
Lower lifecycle costs
iLOQ’s solution is battery- and cable-free. Allego saves money on the maintenance cost of continually replacing batteries.
“iLOQ’s mobile access solution has enhanced our security management for EV charging stations. We’ve enhanced our security by eliminating the need for physical keys. We now have real-time control over access rights, ensuring our critical infrastructure is protected at all times.“
